Results Saturday 26 May
Today saw all our teams play Avoca except for our 14s who were up against Gosford. Avoca are a very strong Club and it showed with our results best described as "mixed".
The highlights of the day would have to be our Colts victory and our 14s. The Colts really do punch above their weight and you have to admire the effort they put in. Their 10 nil victory came two weeks after succumbing to the same opposition 24 7.
The 14s played their first game of 15 man Rugby of the year and came out firing. Their 41 21 victory sees them sitting near the top of the ladder in a small but high quality competition.
Brownie's 3rd Grade also put in a big effort winning 19 17. Cracker's 50 metre effort after running around the Avoca fullback was probably the individual highlight of the day. His description of the try will certainly change over time. Luckily a Rugby field is only 100 metres long.
The rest of our teams struggled somewhat with 1sts going down 36 5, 2nds down 36 nil, 13s 40 5 & the 11s 50 7. Heads up boys. Next week's games will be here before you know it.
The lowlight of the weekend would have to be our 16s. Playing a team they lost to 24 nil a few weeks ago they were got to 12 all at half time. They were down early and played some committed Rugby to get themselves back in to the game. Some minor pushing and shoving turned into an ugly fight between the two teams and the referee had no option but to call the game off. The team needs to learn from this that it isn't acceptable behaviour. They also blew a big chance of winning their first game of the season. Let's play footy !!!!
Islander Night
Saturday June 23 sees the Club's next social event. A relative new event we are trying to make an annual event, the Islander Family Night. At Kariong we have a rather large Islander influence both at player and coaching level. It's a culture we are more than happy to have around the Club and hence we dedicate a night to learn more about their ways. Music, dancing & food will be on the agenda which will be targetted at a fun family night. Keep it free !!!

Trivia Night Success
The Club held their annual Trivia Night at The Hill on Saturday May 12. Compared by the "king" of trivia, Ryan Bush, a great night was had by all. There were in excess of 100 people with most people getting in to the spirit and dressed up as their favourite rock star. Serious doubts surround our Club President, Tim Larke, who attended as Boy George and looked good doing it. Our pommie imports were dressed as the chicks out of Abba which is also a major concern as two of them play in the front row. A great night for the Club with over $2,000 raised. Thanks to all those who helped out.

Milestone for BBQ Boy
One of our BBQ boys have notched up an important milestone. Coming hot on the heals of Graham Thornton becoming a grandfather for the first time, his partner in crime, Dave Simpson, celebrated his 50th birthday yesterday, May 7. Well done Dave. Kariong Rugby is indebted to both you and your family in a very big way. Hope you had a great day.
More Country Representation
It is with great pleasure the Club informs you of the selection of Lachlan Seaman & Eddie Afu in the NSW Country 14s side. This is fantastic news for the boys. The Club is very proud of you. Well done.
Well Done Jacko
Kariong 2012 Colts player Jackson Parkes, more affectionately known as Jacko, is our latest player to be chosen for NSW Country. He has gained representation in the 17s side. There will be many around the club who have big smiles on their faces as a result of this for not only has Jacko been around for a while but has a big heart both on and off the field. We are wrapped for you Jacko.
